A well-loaded trailer is safer on the road and keeps your belongings from shifting around. Here's how to load your GoFlex trailer when it arrives.

Before you start

A little prep before the trailer arrives makes loading go much faster.

  • Gather your supplies: You might want to wrap your furniture in moving blankets or plastic wrap. Your trailer comes with a dolly and a hand truck, so you don't need to bring one.
  • Stage your items: Group boxes and furniture in separate areas so you can plan your loading more easily.
  • Set aside an essentials box: Chargers, medications, toiletries, a change of clothes, and anything you'll need on night one goes in last.
  • Clear a path: Make sure the route from your door to the trailer is free of trip hazards.

Open the trailer

Your trailer has two ways in: a rear ramp for big items and a side door for reaching the front.

  1. Unlatch the rear door: The rear door doubles as your ramp. Release the latches along the side of the door.
  2. Lower the ramp: Hold the top edge and lower the door toward you slowly and steadily. It's heavy, so keep a firm grip and step to the side as it comes down so it doesn't land on your feet.
  3. Unfold the ramp tip: Flip out the hinged section at the end of the ramp so it rests flat on the ground. Make sure the ramp sits steady before you walk on it.
  4. Open the side door: Turn the handle to unlatch it and swing the door open toward the front of the trailer. Use it to load the front without climbing over what's already inside.
  5. Secure the side door open: Push the door all the way back against the trailer and secure it with the hold-open latch near the bottom of the door, so it can't swing shut while you load.

Load it

The goal is a load that's centered, balanced and tight. Work through these in order.

  1. Wrap furniture and protect corners: Before anything goes in, cover pieces that can scratch or dent with blankets or pads.
  2. Heavy items in the middle: Center your heaviest pieces over the axles, low and balanced. Roll them up the ramp on a dolly or use the hand truck.
  3. Keep it balanced side to side: Spread the weight evenly left and right so the trailer tows straight.
  4. Stand mattresses and tables on edge: Long, flat items take less floor space standing upright along the walls.
  5. Lighter items front and back: Surround the heavy load with lighter items so the weight stays centered. Use the side door to fill the front.
  6. Heavier on the bottom, lighter on top: Stack boxes from heaviest to lightest so nothing gets crushed.
  7. Pack it tight: Fill gaps with soft items like pillows and bags so nothing shifts.
  8. Essentials go in last: Keep your box of day-one items by the doors for easy access.

Close it up

Finish loading before your move window starts (1–3 PM on a typical schedule), so your driver can head straight to your new home.

  1. Close the side door: Release the hold-open latch, swing the door shut, and turn the handle until it latches.
  2. Fold up the ramp tip: Flip the hinged section at the end of the ramp back over onto the ramp.
  3. Raise the ramp: Lift from the end of the ramp and walk it up, pushing it closed against the trailer.
  4. Latch the rear door: Secure the latches along the side of the door and give it a pull to make sure it's closed tight.
